WHY NATURAL SOAP IS GOOD FOR YOUR SKIN

WHY NATURAL SOAP IS GOOD FOR YOUR SKIN

WHY IS POTAGER NATURAL SOAP GOOD FOR YOU?

Some time ago, I worked with an environmental consulting firm; they sent me for OSHA training to learn safe workplace standards. During the course I was given a NIOSH Guide. It’s a guide to hazardous chemicals.

I never expected to find ingredients from my household health and beauty products in that book, but I did. From simple bar soap to shampoo and conditioner, to body lotion and nail polish, serious health hazards were everywhere. Potager soap was born as I leafed through that NIOSH guide and vowed to find ingredients and create products that were safe for my family. But this is a story for another

We can all agree it’s best to avoid dangerous chemicals but why is Potager handmade soap, good for your skin and good for you. Plant oils have been used throughout history and their value in healing the skin is now gaining recognition. Research was conducted on the healing and anti-aging properties of plant oil and what we’ve learned is that certain compounds in plant oils fight the two major causes of skin aging: time and environment. As time passes, cellular replacement decreases, and we experience thinning skin, loss of elasticity, roughness, wrinkling and dryness. Environmental factors, such as UV radiation, air pollution, over-washing, smoking and changes in temperature greatly contribute to skin aging.

POTAGER NATURAL SOAP IS LOADED WITH HEALING PLANT OIL

The heroes in this story are plant oils, like Olive, Coconut, responsibly sourced Palm and Shea Butter among others, which can be used to fight the effects of time and environment. Components of plant oils such as Phospholipids, Triterpenes and Phenolic Compounds to name a few, are anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and help repair the skin. Potager artisan soap is loaded with healing plant oil making it an ideal choice for your hands, face and body.

Potager uses Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil as its main ingredient. The molecular structure of Virgin Olive Oil makes it a strong antioxidant. It is anti-inflammatory when used topically and helps heal wounds. Olive Oil is not the only healing source in Potager Soap, our Organic Virgin Coconut oil has all the same benefits of Olive Oil, while also displaying anti-bacterial properties… and it gives you a nice fluffy lather. Lastly, Potager’s Organic Shea Butter is a key ingredient for healthy skin because it is composed of a high level of unsaponifiables (compounds that are not converted into soap during the soapmaking process and remain to moisturize your skin. It also has potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

DOES IT MATTER WHETHER THE PLANT OIL WE USE FOR POTAGER NATURAL SOAP IS ORGANIC OR NOT?

Okay, we know that plant oils are good for our skin but what does it matter whether the plant oil we use is virgin or not? Organic or not?

According to research presented in an article in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences 12-27-17, titled Anti-Inflammatory and Skin Barrier Repair Effects of Topical Application of Some Plant Oils, “Phenolic compounds are found in all plant oil in varying amounts. Phenolic compounds are the main antioxidant found in Virgin Olive Oil”. It follows then that subsequent cold-pressing produces olive oil with a lower Phenolic content, hence lower antioxidant levels. The same applies to other plant oil. On a final note, when you purchase products that are made with Certified Organic Ingredients you can rest assured that those ingredients will be free from harmful chemicals and GMO’s. Potager artisan soap nourishes your skin, while helping to fight the effects of time. Potager handmade soap is good for your skin and good for you.
